Following a string of seismic V/A EPs, Re.You’s Younion label levels up with their first solo artist EP from none other than rising Berlin duo Eins Tiefer. It tops their busiest year so far with releases on the likes of Upon You, Musica Cavernicola and Unreel, upping the ante even more with four originals and a remix from enigmatic new name Blacktik.

‘Helix’ sets the scene. Every bit the deep space curve its title suggests, it’s deep, pulsating, dramatic and an instant set-starter that grabs the dancefloor tight and refuses to let go until the very last undulating twist. Blacktik’s remix takes things in an even darker, brooding direction.

It’s joined by three more disarming originals: ‘Lica’ moves with more of a house-minded swing but its synth strikes are cathedral-sized in their nature and melt into a brilliantly trippy and dark breakdown. ‘Shifty’ is a much moodier slice of techno noir where the percussion lilts melodically and the bass tension rises gradually throughout until it reaches fever pitch mid-way. Finally ‘Performer’ closes the EP with a touching narrative and cosmic tip of the hat where things aren’t all they seem…
